Parade of Homes

“A landmark central Ohio barn is being saved from the wrecking ball one plank and one timber at a time.

For more than 180 years, the barn has stood watch at the intersection of Olentangy River and Home roads in southern Delaware County.

It was scheduled for demolition to make way for the 2014 Parade of Homes when nearby resident Dan Troth took notice.

As vice president of Friends of Ohio Barns, Troth sniffs out troubled barns the way Lassie smelled danger.

Quick research revealed that the oldest part of the barn was built in the early 1800s by Robert McCoy Cellar, son of Revolutionary War veteran Thomas Cellar. The elder Cellar, who pioneered the site in 1801, is considered the second or third white Delaware County settler.”
